Less, Samsung paid USD7, 3 Million

Hangzhou - Samsung Electronics must pay a fine of 50 million Yuan or USD7, after 3 million lost in the case of breach of patent rights. Previously, Samsung claimed the company of origin China, Holley Communications (Holleycom) in April 2007 the use of patent rights related to dual-mode phone, GSM-CDMA.

Xinhua, on Tuesday (23/12/2008) report, Decision victory company based in Zhejiang province, the court issued directly by the Intermediate People's Court, Hangzhou.

However, Holleycom not satisfied with the court decision, because the amount of compensation is considered too small.

"Samsung has been selling more than 700,000 GSM-CDMA mobile phone that clearly violate patents owned by Holley. The compensation we receive compensation only from the sale of course," said Executive Director Holleycom, Ge Chen.

Patents on the technology is dual mode CDMA-GSM Holley claimed, have been found and registered since 2002. Therefore, Chen said menenuntut will be more than just a sales compensation.

"We will make sincere dialogue with Samsung to complete all the compensation that we should accept," said Chen.

Patent infringement case against Samsung Holleycom started when in April 2007, submit a claim to the Holley State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO). One month after Samsung states claim is not valid.

The case once again mencuat in May 2008, SIPO says Holley legitimate claim and can proceed to trial.
